Family-Friendly Activities for Every Age

If you’re planning a family cruise, keeping everyone entertained is a big part of choosing the right ship. On MSC World America, families have access to an unusually wide range of activities, from waterslides and bumper cars to dedicated kids’ clubs, LEGO experiences and high-adrenaline attractions.

The ship is designed with families in mind, with its Family Aventura district bringing many of the most active experiences together in one area. Here are some of the onboard activities families can look forward to.

1. Make a Splash at the Aquapark

For families who can spend an entire afternoon in the water, the Aquapark is one of the ship’s biggest attractions. It features colorful waterslides as well as a splash area designed for younger children.

There are also many other pools throughout the ship, giving families plenty of options for swimming, relaxing and cooling off between activities.

2. Build, Play and Compete with LEGO

LEGO is a major part of the family experience on MSC World America.

The ship offers an expanded LEGO experience that includes a LEGO Family Game Show, Family Zone, master-builder activities and the first LEGO-themed parade at sea. Families can also participate in building challenges and other hands-on LEGO activities.

The LEGO activities are particularly appealing because they aren't limited to dropping children off at the kids’ club. Some activities are specifically designed for parents and children to participate together.

3. Race Around the MSC Sportsplex

If your family prefers competition to lounging by the pool, head to the MSC Sportsplex.

Activities include bumper cars, Zorb Ball and Drone Academy, giving kids and adults opportunities to compete, experiment and try something different from traditional cruise activities.

This is one of the areas where MSC World America stands out from a traditional family vacation. You aren't limited to pools and kids’ clubs—the ship itself becomes part of the entertainment.

4. Try the High Trails Ropes Course

Older children and adventurous parents can take on the High Trail Ropes Course, which is suspended above the top deck.

The elevated course combines physical challenges with ocean views, making it a good choice for families looking for something more active.

And for families who want an even bigger thrill, Cliffhanger offers an over-water swing experience with views out over the ocean. MSC describes it as the only over-water swing ride at sea.

5. Take the Jaw Drop Dry Slide

Not every thrill requires getting wet.

The Jaw Drop is an 11-deck spiral dry slide that takes riders from The Harbour down toward the World Promenade. It's a quick activity, but one kids will probably want to repeat.

For families, it's also an easy activity to fit between other things happening around the ship.

6. Don't Overlook the Family Entertainment

Family time on MSC World America isn't limited to daytime activities.

The ship offers a full schedule of entertainment, including theatre productions, concert-style shows, family activities and live entertainment throughout the day and evening. MSC also offers family-focused programming such as quizzes, and sports competitions.

Because the entertainment schedule changes by sailing, families should check the daily program once onboard and plan around the activities that interest them most.

7. There Are Activities for Toddlers, Too

Families with very young children aren't left out.

MSC offers dedicated programs for babies and toddlers, including a Baby Club with activities developed in partnership with Chicco. Older preschool children can participate in the Mini Club, which incorporates LEGO activities, games and arts and crafts.

MSC also offers supervised Baby Care during designated times for eligible children, although this service carries an additional charge.

How to Make the Most of MSC World America With Kids

With so many choices, the challenge may actually be deciding what to do.

A good strategy is to avoid trying to schedule every minute. Pick a few must-do activities for each family member and leave room for spontaneous discoveries.

For example:

Morning: Pool or Aquapark
Midday: Lunch and family activity
Afternoon: Sportsplex, LEGO activities or kids’ club
Evening: Dinner and a show
Later: Family disco, games or another onboard activity

And don't forget to check the daily program. Some activities have specific times, age requirements or additional charges. MSC confirms that most children's activities are included, while certain services and experiences—including VR on MSC World America—may cost extra.
